Introduction Students will enter the library and be seated. The LMS will introduce the lesson and explain that for the next 3 sessions, the students will be involved in a project involving biographies. The LMS will showcase an example of a completed project for the students to see. The LMS will then proceed to the first part of the project and introduce students to selected biographies from the biography section.
|
Body Session 1: The LMS will introduce students to biographies and provide pre-selected examples of them. Students will engage in a discussion about what makes a person famous. The LMS will ask the students to name some famous people and explain why they are famous. Students will then be asked to select a biography to use for their assignment. Students will be required to read the biography to for the next session.
Session 2: The LMS will introduce students to basic note-taking skills. Students will use their selected biography and use their note-taking skills to select important facts or information about the person. After the student has completed this information, they should narrow their information down to approximately 10 important facts which will be used to fill in the puzzle pieces in the next session. (The exact number depends on the which puzzle is used.)
Session 3: Each student will be provided with a blank puzzle and art supplies. Using the information obtained from the previous lesson, students will fill in their puzzle pieces using the facts about their famous person. They will then decorate the puzzle. The LMS will explain to the students each piece of the puzzle represents a part of that famous person’s life. By putting all the pieces together, they can see what experiences have shaped that person’s life.

Conclusion By the end of the 3 sessions, students will understand what makes a person famous, learn basic note-taking skills, and create a project which illustrates for them how the pieces of the puzzle represents the life of the famous person they selected. When the projects are completed, the students will briefly explain who they chose for their project, why they chose this person and display their puzzle.
