From Stranger in the Woods to Authors in the Library
Description:
After reading and discussing Stranger in the Woods, students will be encouraged to design and plan their own photographic storybook. The book will be worked on as a collaborative effort involving the school media specialist (SLMS), art teacher and English Language Arts teacher. The class will work both as a class and within small cooperative learning groups to brainstorm, plan and edit the book. The final version of the book will be professionally bound and be cataloged by the SLMS for inclusion in the school library collection. This lesson integrates information literacy skills with a creative, literature project (rather than a typical informational research project) while inspiring an appreciation for literature.
