Session One
Begin a unit on oral presentation. Discuss the different types of oral presentation. Explain the difference between informational and persuasive speeches. The students will work independently to research, view and analyze several historical speeches as well as commercial speeches. Evaluate the structure of various speeches. Each student"s speech should be at least five minutes.
Session Two
Students will consider the audience the speech is intended. Draft an outline and include the main message you wish to get across to your audience, opening sentence, supporting points and closing.
Session Three
View text and audio of some famous speeches. Students will view the websites listed to get a feeling for the speakers as well as the speeches they presented.
Session Four
Students will complete writing their indivdual speeches and present final draft to the class.
