From Article to Acrostic: Note-Taking and Poem-Making
Students will use note taking strategies to extract relevant information from an article or a book about a famous woman. They will summarize that information and use it to create an acrostic poem about the person. Next, they will use that information to create an acrostic poem about the famous woman. Finally, they will present the poem to the other members of their group and host a mini Q. & A. session about the famous women they chose.
This lesson plan is designed for three 45 minute sessions.
This is an extremely adaptable lesson plan. The articles read can be about any person, place or thing. The presentation mode can be any form of poetry or another form completely.
