Games are Fun, so are Books!
Opening activity: Review location of picture books and how they are organized by the author's last name. Have student with a last name that starts with K find the book that will be used in the shared reading (Give student an index card with the author and name of book). Have a shared reading of Jump, Frog, Jump! By Robert Kalan. Then students will play a game that will illustrate some science concepts in relation to frogs' eating habits. This will lead into locating books about animals in the non-fiction section of the library.
