Manuscript Amusements
Description:
Students will read a book and then create a game to go along with it.  Examples of games include crossword puzzles, word builders, word searches, and Jeopardy. Copies of the games will be kept in the LMC for other students to play once they have finished the book. 
Goals & Objectives:
Instructional Goals:


  • Students will read a book of their choosing.

  • Students will create questions, and answers, that correspond with the book they read.

  • Students will use technology to create a game to go along with their book.  



  Learning Objectives: 



  • Students will create at least 15 questions, and correct answers, to go along with their book.

  • Students will use correct spelling and grammar. 

  • Students will correctly use technology to develop a game.


Motivational Goals:


  • Stimulate students’ interest in reading.

  • Build students confidence in their reading ability.

  • Promote the value of reading.

  • Encourage future reading from students.

Procedures:




















Pre Assignment: (1-2 weeks)

Students must have completed reading a book of their choosing before beginning this assignment.

Introduction:  (5 – 10 minutes minutes)



LMS briefly describes what the lesson is about and what is expected.  


 


LMS directs students to the BuILDer that goes with this lesson.

Body: (30-40 minutes)




Students choose which program they want to use.




Students compose questions and enter them into their desired program.

Students can work with a partner or by themselves.  (If working with a partner, both students must be familiar with the book being used.)


 



Conclusion: (5 minutes)




After the game is completed, students will go through the game to check for any errors.

Later the LMS will go through the game to check for any errors.  If everything looks ok the game will be made available for other students who have read the book used for the game.



 


 


 



 

 



 


 


 


 


 


 


 


Assessment:

  • Students will use the information learned from the books read to come up with relevant questions.

  • Questions and answers that correspond with the book chosen will be put into a game for others to use.
