Preventing Plagiarism
Description:
This lesson is designed to teach students the importance of academic integrity. Furthermore, it will provide them with helpful tools/skills to help them maintain their academic integrity as they work on a research project.
Goals & Objectives:

Information Literacy Skill/Instructional Goals:

  1. LWDAT create a framework for organizing information found (see notes     template).
  2. LWDAT save information for potential future use.
  3. LWDAT correctly credit all information used.     

Learning Objectives:

  1. Students will use note-taking template during research
  2. Students will correctly document/cite all sources used during research.

Motivational Goals:

  1. to establish the importance of information literacy standards, specifically academic integrity
  2. to gain confidence in research skills, specifically quoting, citing, paraphrasing, summarizing, source documentation and citation

Assessment:
Teacher/LMS will evaluate student performance as they scan student notes and grade final products. Source citation will be included in rubric created for product asssessment.
