First stages of research process
Overview:
Discuss the importance of understanding the assignment and what is expected. Begin with important questions that need to be answered in order to complete the assignment. Discuss characteristics of good research questions.

Media Specialist can collaborate with teachers at all levels and incorporate this lesson with almost any classroom topic.

Instruction / Activities:

The classroom teacher will introduce the research topic, discuss the research assignment, go over the grading rubric with students, and assign groups prior to visiting the Media Center. 

 

The Media Specialist will introduce the research process (Simple Four or Big 6) and discuss the characteristics of good research questions and how writing good questions will make the research process much easier. 

 

Students will be given an opportunity to work within their assigned groups to list prior knowledge and develop at least 3 good research questions.
