HOUR 1

Classroom

·      Welcome

·      Review Discussion Board handout

·      Review Weekly Assignment handout

·      Discuss how points are earned for Saturday lab

·      Discuss what the objectives/competencies are for the week

·  Understand the expectations of the course

·  Understand the grading & points distribution

·  Understand what is a quality post and how frequently to post

·  Understand how weekly assignments are determined

·  Understand what they must do and achieve during the course of the lab to earn full points

·  Understand what their objectives/ competencies are for the module

 

 

 

HOURS 2 - 4

Computer Lab

·      Quizlet. Assign the desired study set.

·      MEDCIN SOFTWARE & EHR BOOK

 

o Each student will paper print and do the HTML print after every exercise is completed.

o Chapter 4 – Exercises 23 - 29

·  Students will be able to access Quizlet and locate the correct study set.  Students will be able to print the flashcards if desired.

·  Students will be able to complete each exercise in Chapter 4 and will have a printed copy and email copy of work accomplished.

 

 

 

 

LUNCH

HOUR 5

1330 - 1430

Classroom - Using Lecture Notes Week 4

 

·      Review Chapter 7 – MCW.

·      Progress Notes – Document Type.  Instructor will lecture what are the required components for a complete H&P to include document segments & timeliness.

·      Physician Orders – Document Type.  Instructor will lecture what are the required components for a complete Discharge Summary to include document segments & timeliness.

·  Students will be able to answer questions from the CCDS question bank correctly.  They will be able to describe the why of a question.

·  Students will be able to discuss the items they learned in the reading and describe how they would apply in a physician office setting; and in a hospital setting.

·  Students will understand each document type.  They will be able to state what are the required components for each type and who are the authorized personnel to make entries.

 

 

 

HOUR 6 - 7

1430 - 1630

Classroom- Medical Record Assembly

·      Instructor will give each student two charts to create

·      Instructor will provide forms for chart

·      Instructor will review the process to assemble charts

·      Students will be asked to work independently to assemble charts

·      Students will be asked to file their incomplete assembled charts in terminal digit order

·  Students will label each form correctly

·  Students will assemble the charts using the chart order

 

 

 

HOUR 8

1630 - 1730

 

Classroom

·      Reflection of day’s activities - essay

·      Discuss next week’s assignment

·      Discuss goals of students – how did this week go, time management, ideas to improve

·      Clean up

·  Student will write a page of reflection of day’s activities

·  Participate with activity

·  Share goals, time management and ideas for improvement

·  Return classroom to ready

·  Return computer lab to ready
