Objective(s)/Core Standard(s):
Students will show their understanding of general reference sources found in media center.e.g. encyclopedias, picture atlases, dictionaries, maps, globes, newspapers, almanacs, indexes by completing
a treasure hunt and correctly locating 80% of the answers.
Formative Assessment(s) (What will you do to make sure the students understand the objective being taught?): Students will participate by volunteering answers as a PowerPoint is shown. The need for more instruction should become evident as they try to answer correctly. Question/answer treasure hunt for the answers will test their ability to use reference sources.
Anticipatory Set (pre-assessment, motivational strategy, attention grabber):
A large ornate treasure box will pique students’ interest.
Procedure(s)/Timeline (includes instructional methods, learning activities [what the teacher is doing/what the students are doing], time needed, materials/resources/texts, and technologies needed, and any adaptations necessary for all to learn the objective) [may need to add rows]:
