Description:
This plan covers the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-6, the events that lead to the expedition, and the effects of the expedition.
Goals & Objectives:

The students will learn about the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-6, the events that lead to the expedition and the results of the expedition.

 

Given 1 week's class time and historical reference materials provided by the teacher, groups of 3 to 5 students will create an MS Photostory about the expedition, its causes and its outcomes that will score 150 points ore more on the rubric. 

 

Materials & Sources:

The teacher will provide the students with:

  • A list of websites with information about the expedition.

The students will need access to:

  • MS Photostory
  • Audio recording equipment
  • Computers with Internet Access
Procedures:
The small groups will research the Expedition and create a MS Photostory using at least 15 slides and a vocal naration. All information cited in the Photostory will be cited in an approved fashion.
Assessment:
This project is worth a total of 200 points. 150 points will be given to the group on the MS Photostory presentation. 50 points will be given to the individual for his or her notes. The breakdown of possible points is as follows:
MS Photostory Presentation:
• 75 points - Content of the slides.
• 25 points - Grammar and spelling.
• 20 points - Correct citation of references.
• 10 points - Correct number of slides.
• 10 points - Diction of the narration.
• 10 points - Visual appeal of the slides.
Note cards:
• 25 points - Collection of enough factual information.
• 25 points - Collection of enough citation information.
