Body:

Introduce students to accessing the Internet and the library database (Kids Grolier Online) from the school website. Instruct students on using the search box to type in fiction or nonfiction and review the results (definitions, articles, illustrations, related websites, etc.).

Students will write out the definitions of fiction and nonfiction. When definitions are complete, the LMS will introduce the Smart Board and play Smart Board interactive games with students. All students will have the opportunity to interact. Pictures and animations will help students to participate.

After the game, have each group present their findings of the book at their table. Is it fiction or non-fiction? How can they tell? What elements distinguish the two? Each person in the group should give another example.

LMS gives sample book talks and provides directions to students for their own book talks. Students are asked to pick out a book for a book talk which they will give in library class. Students are assigned to read the book before the next library class.
