Idea Title:
Researching Landmarks: Using a Book to Instill Curiosity about Research (Video)
Description:
The goal of the lesson described in this video was to have fifth grade students practice research skills. To generate interest for the research project and create curiousity, the LMS, Lynne Lemery, used a book with very few words entitled "Ben's Dream" by Chris Van Allsburg. The book includes beautiful illustrations of landmarks but no words to identify them. The illustrations grabbed her students' attention and they start asking "What's that landmark? What about this one?" View the video clip in Supporting Files.
