In this lesson students will learn about ownership of information, privacy, and censorship in the context of real scenarios relating to college student life. Students work in groups to analyze the scenarios and argue different sides.
Students will:
Teachers:
1. Present background information and definitions of terms using the PowerPoint presentation.
2. At each exercise break (e.g., "copyright exercise: sharing downloaded music"), assign students to work in pairs and refer to the handout corresponding to the concept presented.
3. The students in each pair take opposing viewpoints for each scenario (e.g., for vs. against sharing downloaded music). Students will argue their viewpoints for a few minutes and then the class will discuss ideas together using the "Follow Up" slides in the PowerPoint.
