This lesson is designed for use with third and fourth graders. It will lead students to information about the land, weather and animals of Antarctica.

-After viewing the video, students will be asked to brainstorm.
-Their facts will be noted on a graphic organizer chart.
-Each child will recieve an index card to write a question that they'd like to explore further.
-Students will read their questions aloud and small groups will be formed based upon common interests.
-Librarian will show students how to access bookmarked websites using Trackstar.
-Students will begin their research process by accessing encyclopedias, non-fiction books and magazines.
-Students will prepare and present electronic postcards including text and pictures.
Electronic postcards will be evaluated for picture and factual information
