School Uniforms: A Persuasive Debate

Description:
Students are to defend or argue a student uniform proposal. Students will utilize factual, cited information, not emotional information to support their assigned claim.
Goals & Objectives:
Students will extract relevant information from selected websites.
Students will use high-level thinking skills to form opinions relative to their topic.
Materials:
Class website: http://www.christina.k12.de.us/kirk/baukzemas.htm
Procedures:
Students will complete a graphic organizer before starting the project.
Students must provide 3 factual pieces of evidence to support their claim.
The student portfolio will be a 5 paragraph essay. Students will follow this with a formal classroom debate as a presentation.
