Procedures:

Teacher will discuss prior knowledge, and will introduce the literature and the author.

The librarian will introduce the project, using a hand-out about targeted resources and methods for the project. Resources will also be included on the library web page. As a final product, students will create a Tagxedo, Wordle or Glogster, using terms collected during their research,  that are pertinent to the culture of Chile. They will share their digital art with others in the class, explaining the significance of the terms they have chosen to include. The classroom teacher may assign specific areas of concentration before students begin their investigation: clothing, history, geography, government…etc., or may choose to let students choose. A rubric will include expectations as well as the due date for the project.

Modeling and Guided Practice:  Modeling will consist of a Tagxedo, Wordle, Glog, etc, to demonstrate technique for the students: 1) read material; 2) collect pertinent terms; 3) create the image.

We will also model the technique for the online database research, using the recommended databases and pertinent terms, demonstrating search strategies for students.
