students will gain a better understanding of how the library catalog works.

Materials:

data projector or smartboard and web access

Procedures:

librarian will introduce library catalog.  demonstration will be given in how to perform a search, pointing out the screen details.  Discuss how books are placed on the shelves. pointing out the fiction vs the non-fiction books.

Assessment:

kids will be able to perform library catalog searches without assistance.
