Description:
This lesson will teach students how to cite using the MLA style. The students will learn about plagiarism and will have to properly cite a book, an article, and a web site. This is part of a three day research lesson and you can learn more about the other two parts from my lesson plan and BuILder online lesson.
Goals & Objectives:
Instructional Goals:
- Students will be able to successfully find different information to be cited.
- Students will learn about plagiarism.
- Students will become familiar with MLA.
Learning Objectives:
- Students will be able to identify what constitutes plagiarism.
- Students will be able to find a relevant book, article, and web site on their topic to be cited.
- Students will be able to write a complete MLA citation for each of the three materials they find.
Motivational Goals:
- Building students’ confidence in their ability to learn and use information skills.
- Maintain students’ interest in the research process.
- Promote the value of learning information skills.
- Encourage students’ ongoing confidence in their ability to learn and use information skills.
