How to Use Webinars as a training tool for conducting managment oriented professional development classes

The purpose of this course is to instruct class designers on the use of Webinars, the how, when and the why. It also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of its uses in DE learning environment.

Goals & Objectives:

 Goal:

 Students will be able to design and implement a Webinar for conducting managment classes.   

 

Objectives:

At the completion of this class, the students will be able to:

Materials:

  1. Access to a PC (2 employees per)
  2. Connection to the Internet
  3. Cameras and microphones for each PC
  4. Access to Webex
  5. Access to Blackboard Chat (Collaboration Tool)
  6. PowerPoint training Slides utilized throughout the presentation. 

 

Procedures:

Preparation for Instructor:
1. Ensure all students have been alerted to training time and place.

2. Test all PC's for connectivity, audio/visual funtioning correctly.
3. Review PPT slide for accuracy and completeness [Editor's Note: Powerpoint presentation is assumed to be created by the reader of this lesson plan based on his/her institution's available software for conducting Webinars, etc.]

 

Step by Step Instructor Procedure:

1. Begin the lesson by ensuring that all students can both see and hear the instructions

2. Take the students around the Webinar software, instruct them on ettiquet, and tools available to best utilize the software and to keep the Webinar organized, finctional and productive.

3. Have each student introduce themselve as a check on learning utilizing the microphone, and the "hand-raised" tool.

4.  Begin PPT presentation, the following topics will be addressed:

Assessment:

Assessment tools for this block of instruction will be two fold;



1. Use continuous check-on-learning questions throughout the learning cycle



2. Students, working in teams of 2, will design and conduct a 10 minute Webinar on a date to be determined by the instructor. Topics will determined by the instructor, student teams will receive their topics NLT 48 hours prior to the expected presentation.
