This lesson was designed for third grade students to become experts on the animal of their choice by completing a research project using print and electronic resources in the library media center, along with other forms of media. Information will be gathered from multiple electronic and non-electronic sources and cited properly. The students will be actively engaged in a variety of stimulating activities developing social interaction skills, knowledge of computer systems and other pieces of technology, research, reading, critical thinking, and writing skills. A field trip to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo will also take place, after students have picked and completed some basic research on their chosen animal.

• One interesting unusual extra fact
Students will provide facts and information by presenting to class and invited legal guardians by using three different forms of mediums, one typed research paper, one display using a digital piece of equipment, and one creative piece of choice (could also be technology).
