Description:
The SLMS and the English teacher will work together on introducing a variety of reading genres to the students. This is meant to broaden the students' knowledge of genres and peak their interests in reading something new. The first genre introduced will be science fiction.
Goals & Objectives:
Instructional Goals:
- Students will self-select outside reading for their book reports from a variety of genres.
- Students will present information in a prescribed format.
Learning Objectives:
- Students will successfully locate and complete at least one book for their first book report.
- Students will produce a three paragraph review of their book to post to the school’s book review site.
Motivational Goals:
- To generate interest in a variety of reading genres.
- To build student confidence in self-selection of outside reading.
- To motivate students to read and share what they read.

-The book review will be assessed based on conformation to required length and appropriateness for posting to school web site.
